On July 7th 2012 I set out on the ride of a lifetime.

Having initially signed up for The World Cycle Challenge, a fully supported circumnavigation following Mark Beaumont’s world record route, I found this trip cancelled. Undeterred I went on to plan a 12 month tour with one of the other participants. I planned schedules and flights only to have to cancel again following the receipt of bad news.

Finally we set off and in September 2014 we eventually stopped pedalling. We had cycled 31,305km through 26 different countries including passing over the Thorong-la pass at 5416m in Nepal and riding with a tour from Cairo to Capetown.

I documented my tour at and remain a keen cycle tourer and advocate for the two-wheeler.

I’m currently writing up tales from my adventure, planning talks to inspire others and of course – still considering another trip of my own – even if it is much shorter this time.

If you’re interested in booking me for your cycle event then do get in touch.
