On July 7th 2012 I set out on the ride of a lifetime.
Having initially signed up for The World Cycle Challenge, a fully supported circumnavigation following Mark Beaumont’s world record route, I found this trip cancelled. Undeterred I went on to plan a 12 month tour with one of the other participants. I planned schedules and flights only to have to cancel again following the receipt of bad news.
Finally we set off and in September 2014 we eventually stopped pedalling. We had cycled 31,305km through 26 different countries including passing over the Thorong-la pass at 5416m in Nepal and riding with a tour from Cairo to Capetown.
If you’re interested in booking me to speak about my adventures at your event then do get in touch.
While embarking on my cycle tour I became a keen blogger on my site at www.bikemind.co.uk. Rather than simply write about my activity I enjoyed commenting and sharing reactions to my journey.
Ten years on I plan to publish my book about this adventure incorporating tales of our trip with thoughts and reflections on this experience. The book will be called ‘The world at 15mph’.
